What we measured and what we found

Most HVAC companies write about themselves. The ones that get found answer one buyer question per page.
We analyzed the top results for 20 HVAC buyer questions in Tampa. The winners are not the biggest companies. They are the ones with a dedicated page for each question, the city in the title, the answer in the first line, and dozens of concrete numbers. One Tampa company held 22 of those top slots with exactly this approach. Based on our analysis of 220 search results across 20 HVAC buyer questions, Tampa, September 2026.

We took the questions HVAC buyers actually type: AC repair, tune up, installation, emergency service, how-often questions. Then we looked at who ranks for each, how deep their pages are, and what those pages have in common.

Two things stood out. First, a local company can win most of these questions. Second, the pages that win look almost nothing like a typical HVAC homepage.

One page we analyzed runs nearly 4,000 words, carries 132 concrete numbers, and answers a single question: what an AC tune-up costs in Tampa Bay. It opens by stating the range in the first line. That page ranks. A generic services page does not.

Which HVAC questions a local company can win

Not every keyword is winnable, and pretending otherwise wastes money. In our analysis of real Google results for 20 HVAC buyer questions, 15 were dominated by local companies. The rest leaned on national sites.

AC repair [your city]
AC repair companies [your city]
AC installation companies [your city]
AC installation [your city]

For every keyword above, swap [your city] for your service area. The question is what gets you found, and how often you publish and refresh it, that decides who wins.

The playbook

This is what the data says to publish, and it is what we do for HVAC companies every week.

  1. One page per question. Not one services page. A dedicated page for each question your buyers ask: what a tune-up costs, how often to schedule one, what to expect, emergencies, replacements.
  2. Answer in the first line. State the range or the answer immediately. The winning pages do not make the reader scroll to find it.
  3. Put the city in the title. "AC Tune-Up Cost Tampa" beats "AC Tune-Up Cost" for a local company, in search and in AI answers.
  4. Load it with concrete numbers. Prices, ranges, checklists, timings. The strongest pages carry over 100 numbers. Numbers are what make a page citable and trustworthy.
  5. Keep every page current. The pages that rank were published, then updated as prices moved. Freshness is not optional.
  6. Publish on a schedule. New question pages at a steady pace, plus refreshes of the ones you already have.

How we measured this

We analyzed the top results for 20 HVAC buyer questions in one US metro (Tampa), across search, using the same buyer phrasing an owner would target. For each result we recorded the domain, whether it was a local company or a national site, the page depth in words, the number of concrete numbers, the title, the first line, and the publish and update dates. Sample: 220 results, September 2026. This is one market. The pattern held across every winnable question in it.

What this means for your HVAC company

You do not need more ads. You need the content your buyers are already searching for, written to the standard the winners use. Most HVAC companies never build it because it is a research and writing job that never ends.

That is the job we take off your plate. We research your market, find the questions your buyers ask, and write the pages that answer them, in your voice, with the numbers and the city, kept current. Nothing repeats.

Questions

One dedicated page per buyer question, on your own site, 1,400 to 4,000 words, with the city in the title, the answer in the first line, and 50 or more concrete numbers. That is the pattern shared by the pages ranking for HVAC buyer questions.

Publish a new question page regularly and refresh the ones you have. The top-ranking HVAC pages we analyzed were published in 2025 and updated through 2026, so keeping pages current matters as much as adding new ones.

In our analysis, 15 of 20 HVAC buyer questions were dominated by local companies, including AC repair [your city], AC tune up cost, emergency repair [your city], and how-often questions. Some bare cost terms lean national.
